GOLD IMPERIAL Playing Cards. Faberge eggs more luxurious than ever

While he enjoys the success of his latest campaign, ROME, Randy Butterfield (Midnight Card Company) has decided to launch his very first self-funded and self-fulfilled project: GOLD IMPERIAL.

More than three years ago, Randy created a set of two original custom decks called Imperial. Inspired on the Fabergé eggs of the XIX Century and Imperial Russia and created from original 3D Models, the campaign was successfully funded but this Gold deck, created as a stretch gold, couldn’t be printed.

After a few years and many new and amazing projects and decks, Randy decided to produce this deck he always wanted to see become real. Although the main artwork of the original decks remain the same, the index fonts and large pips on the numbered cards have been tweaked from the original Imperial Decks to improve the playability of the deck.

The court cards depict different eggs with several inspirations. The Diamond eggs all have a Nature/Fantasy/Elfish vibe. The Clubs are inspired by Greek mosaics, colors and geometric shapes. The Russian two-headed eagle is the focal point for the hearts and back eggs. They also draw inspiration from Ancient Rome. And lastly, the spades all have a Baroque/Gothic look and feel. To differentiate the hierarchy of Cards, the Jacks are the “warrior” eggs within each suit. The Queens are simple, elegant and use light colors. The Kings are the most decorative and ornate of the Court Eggs. Also, each of the King eggs contains a “crown” at the top.

Although the original decks were printed by USPCC, Imperial Gold will be made by The Expert Playing Card Company in a limited print run of 1000 decks.

The cards utilize the well known Classic Finish by Expert. The back card is a borderless design. The yellow bleed on the sides and red bleed at the top and bottom provide opportunity for some spectacular spreads, fans and many cardistry techniques.

The tuck box is stunningly printed on a gold luminescent paper stock. This case features 4-Color Process + Red Foil + Gold Foil and embossing. Each individually numbered seal sticker design is printed with a dark red pantone on a gold foil material. Everything is top notch and gorgeous.
