CIRCUS REPRODUCTION Playing Cards. A big show of the late nineteenth century
Along last months, Will Roya (PlayingCardsDecks.com) has produced a good amount of vintage decks reproductions. Although most of them have been offered them through collective financing, the last one has put it directly for sale through its website: CIRCUS REPRODUCTION.
The deck has been completely recreated from scratch from the original in 1896, the Circus No 47, printed by the USPCC in their first steps as a completely new company.
This deck replaced the traditional characters in the court cards with those seen under the marquee: clowns, ringmasters and queens.
Numbered cards are standard with a golden frame that gives them a bold elegance.
Although the original deck had only a joker, this reproduction includes two jokers and two extra gaff cards (an extra ace and a white face).
Two editions have been made in peach and blue colors. Both share the faces with different backs, one-way and two-ways respectively.
Like in previous reproductions by Will, Both decks have been remastered from the original designs with digital painting techniques in another collaboration between PlayingCardDescks.com and Azured OX. Despite being reproductions of the originals, all decks share a set of features that include the traditional cut and smooth finish.
The golden ink and the custom stamp style tax seal give the deck a very interesting vintage look.
The USPCC has printed 1000 units of each color. Only 300 units of each deck have just been available since the rest were sent in November to the members of the Pip Box Club and other dealers. You can get them in a set, individually and also in a small amount of uncut sheets.
