NOUVEAU Bicycle deck. Old playing cards inspiration with French modernist refinement

Bona Fide Playing Cards is a young and creative Spain based group devoted to the design of unique and original Playing Cards. After working really hard to have it ready and be able to print it, they have just launched their first creation: NOUVEAU Playing Cards.

This deck mixes several inspirations. On the one hand the inspiration comes from the original Rouen designs for the very first French playing cards before spreading around the world. Those cards depicted historical and mythological characters that have been also represented here. On the other hand, the designing style pays tribute to one of the most amazing artistic movement: Art Nouveau, born in France too and characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms.

The deck has been completely customized and all the illustrations are really stunning and bold. The decorative elements are refined and full of symbolism, as the original suits and cards were. The back of the cards, intricately designed, is the maximum expression of the art style the deck is inspired by.

The project shows two different decks, both Bicycle branded and made by USPCC in print runs of 2,500 units. The original edition and the turquoise edition. That turquoise edition and the embossing of the tuck cases will be unlocked as stretch goals.

Enjoy the beauty of these cards and visit the project website to raise your pledge. This deck must become real to delight card fans.

Good luck!

About the Author

I'm Max, a collector and passionate about playing cards. Since 2012 I try to spread this passion to everyone who goes through Max Playing Cards. In my articles I do not just talk about cards, as I try to look for the stories and the human beings behind them.

I would like to complete my collection of Bicycle decks some day, but now I know that is impossible ...
