Some months ago I talked about this deck that was going to be printed by USPCC and that unfortunately didn’t get funds enough to be real. Now, the artist Alvin Cheung has completely redesigned the card faces and has created a fantastic new deck: Sishou Four Beasts.
Inspired by Ancient Chinese mythology, the cards are elegantly and intricately designed. According its name, four different creatures represent each different suit. Each of these creatures is associated to a direction and a season, and each has its own individual characteristics and origins.
The deck will be printed by LPCC with the diamond finish stock paper. The tuck case paper will have a pearlescent sheen to it where things printed on it will shine through the ink.
Having in mind the new printer, the project’s funding goal is much lower so several improvements for the deck have been defined as stretch goals, including interior coloring and embossing for the tuck box and even a cool special edition deck in red.
Have a look to the deck in the project website and raise your pledge.
