ROME Playing Cards. First look at the deck in progress by Randy Butterfield

Randy Butterfield (Midnight Card Company) is an old friend of Max Playing Cards that has delighted us with many designs and his personal style. He is preparing his next deck, ROME, inspired by the Ancient Rome. He has let me “steal” him a few images of what he is designing just now so I hope you like them.

There will be two editions of the ROME Playing Cards: Antony and Caesar, in two different colors for back and tuck case. Both will be printed by LPCC using their Classic Finish and all the cool extras for the tuck case such as gold foil, embossing and inner printing.Find below the images IN EXCLUSIVE of what the tuck cases will look like.

This is what Randy has told me about his new deck:

Ancient Rome is a Deck theme I’ve wanted to tackle for years! I’ve always been drawn to the rich colors, lavish outfits, influential and dramatic history, and the complex characters that make-up the backdrop of Ancient Rome. The Antony and Caesar pair of Decks will focus on the time periods of the First and Second Triumvirates. The First Triumvirate ended when Julius Caesar defeated Pompey the Great and became Dictator. The Second Triumvirate ended when Octavian defeated Mark Antony & Cleopatra, and eventually became the first Emperor of Rome (and given the name Augustus).

The ROME Decks will also include characters such as Cicero, Cleopatra, Brutus, Servilla, Cassius, Pompey the Great, Marcus Agrippa and Livia Drusilla.

The pair of ROME Decks should be ready to launch on Kickstarter around late summer/early fall. Keep updated on the progress of the ROME Decks at Midnight Cards Facebook page or by following Midnightcards on Instagram.
Ave Caesar!
