One of the best critically rated films in 2014 was “The Grand Budapest Hotel<\/strong>“, written and directed by Wes Anderson and featuring a long cast of high-level actors and actresses. In one of its parts, the Society of the Crossed Keys<\/strong> is mentioned, a fraternity of European hotel concierges created to help those in need during difficult times. Inspired by that chapter of film, Fabien Barral<\/strong>\u00a0(Mr. Cup<\/a>) has launched his new campaign: THE CROSSED KEYS SOCIETY<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fabien’s works are distinguishable at first glance. Delicately<\/strong> crafted<\/strong> cases<\/strong>, full of metallic foils<\/strong> of the noblest materials and with typographic embossing<\/strong> that highlight the details<\/strong> with a special elegance<\/strong>. This time his dedication does not disappoint either. As a lover of playing card design<\/strong>, illustration<\/strong> and collecting<\/strong>, this inspiring artist<\/strong> has brought his idea to life through a set of six different decks<\/strong>. The five luxurious<\/strong> (and fictitious) hotels<\/strong> in Switzerland (Excelsior), Belgium (Chateau Luxe), Spain (Imperial Ritz), France (C\u00f4te du Cap) and Italy (Principessa) have been represented in five different tuck cases<\/strong>, with a very careful elaboration filled of details<\/strong>, typographic<\/strong> elements and three metallic<\/strong> foils<\/strong> on different colored stock. An additional tuck case<\/strong> (number 1) will represent the entire society<\/strong> as the union of the five hotels.<\/p>\n

These beautiful<\/strong> tuck<\/strong> cases<\/strong> will lock 54 cards<\/strong> in the purest style of the artist, with retro designs<\/strong> that play with colors to identify<\/strong> the different suits: white backgrounds for spades and hearts and solid (red and black) for clubs and diamonds. The indices<\/strong> in the four corners<\/strong> will also facilitate this identification.<\/p>\n

The court cards<\/strong> collect portraits of characters drawn from Fabien’s collection of vintage photographs and will be developed throughout the campaign<\/strong>. All decks will have the same faces<\/strong> with different backs and colors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The numbered cards<\/strong> show an original distribution of the pips and depict inspiring quotes.<\/p>\n

For those who want the complete collection<\/strong>, the artist has prepared a special box<\/strong> lavishly decorated with gold and white foils<\/strong> and typographic<\/strong> embossing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
