A few months ago I presented the latest creation by\u00a0Mankin Chan<\/strong>\u00a0(Mankinnovation)<\/a>, a graphic designer based in the Netherlands. That campaign was not funded and now Mankin relaunches ESSENTIA<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A very personal style defines this artist with soft shapes<\/strong> but an interesting aesthetic force<\/strong>. The renovated<\/strong> Essentia keeps that eye-catching simple drawing<\/strong>, flat colors<\/strong> and “cartoonish” style<\/strong> of the previous deck and becomes the author’s reinterpretaci\u00f3n<\/strong> of the traditional<\/strong> playing cards. Thus, these cards will be an interesting collection<\/strong> object because of its originality<\/strong> and, at the same time, a perfect deck to be used thanks to its absolute playability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The deck is elegant<\/strong>, very clean<\/strong>, with white backgrounds<\/strong> and perfectly recognizable elements<\/strong>. Custom<\/strong> pips and indices give the deck a touch of distinction<\/strong> and court cards<\/strong> show us endearing<\/strong> characters.<\/p>\n

The aces<\/strong> have been created with careful proportions and a\u00a0bigger\u00a0size and the two jokers<\/strong> asymmetrically<\/strong> represent\u00a0four magicians<\/strong>, one for each suit.<\/p>\n

To give it a more classic look<\/strong>, the back<\/strong> and the tuck case<\/strong> are decorated by an redesigned<\/strong>\u00a0argyle pattern<\/strong> (known for representing twentieth-century English fashion with a rhombus structure) in blue tones<\/strong> and with the suits symbols.<\/p>\n

The deck will be printed by Legends Playing Cards Co.\u00a0<\/strong>and with funding enough, extras<\/strong> in the tuck case like silver foil<\/strong>, numbered seal<\/strong> or inner printing<\/strong> will be unlocked.<\/p>\n
