A kingdom marked by secret alliances and power struggles. Every card unveils characters rich in history and symbols of nobility, with a refined design that blends tradition and elegance: REIGN OF KINGS.
This new creation by Jody Eklund (Black Ink Playing Cards), a designer and illustrator with a solid background in custom playing cards —and a long-time friend of Max Playing Cards— offers a visual experience that merges classical artistry with a narrative inspired by ancient courts and their intrigues. With meticulous illustrations and deluxe production, Reign of Kings is a deck designed to win over both players and collectors.
The campaign features two main editions, each with its own distinct visual identity.
Shadow Reign is dedicated to those who rule from the shadows. Its matte black tuck box is enhanced with black and gold foil and a 3D embossed lion emblem, reflecting quiet power, elegance, and strategic depth. The cards combine intricate design with gold metallic accents.
The Crimson Reign, on the other hand, embraces drama. Its vibrant red tuck, with black and gold foil, houses a deck featuring cold foil printing on both faces and back, turning each card into a luminous spectacle.
Both editions include gilded versions (with metallic edges) that elevate their collector appeal: the Shadow Gilded comes in a fully golden tuck with gold gilded edges, while the Crimson Gilded retains its bold red theme throughout the embossed details and shimmering red edges.
The court cards represent fictional houses and noble lineages, each with their own distinct values and aesthetics. With a refined comic-inspired style, every character has a strong personality—from warrior kings and visionary queens to noble heirs—all echoing tales of legacy and ambition. The illustrations are carefully enhanced with metallic accents, either in gold or cold foil depending on the edition.
The aces are heraldic emblems of their respective suits, with the ace of spades featuring a majestic lion’s head—an enduring symbol of strength and power.
The back design reinforces the deck’s identity with a symmetrical and ornate composition, once again placing the lion emblem at the center. In the Crimson edition, cold foil details make the back glimmer with every movement.
As optional add-ons, the campaign also features a commemorative dealer coin in antique gold-finished metal with sculpted detail, and a sticker set that includes some of the deck’s signature elements—such as the court jesters. The collector’s set includes one of each edition plus the coin, all presented in a deluxe case.
Printed by WJPC with tuck cases crafted by Boschiero & Newton, the cards guarantee top-tier quality, premium materials, and finishes that will meet the expectations of even the most demanding collectors.
